Understanding CPD Issues

Common CPD Opening Problems

Adobe RoboHelp Not Present

You encounter an error message such as "%%os%% Can't Open CPD Files" when trying to open your CPD. Customarily, this means that Adobe RoboHelp is not installed on %%os%%. This will prevent you from double-clicking to open the CPD file because the OS doesn’t know how to handle it.

Tip: When you have another program installed that you know will open your CPD, you can select it from the other programs listed (see "Show Apps").

Adobe RoboHelp Requires Update

In some cases, you might have a newer (or older) version of a RoboHelp Cache Project Database file that is unsupported by your installed application version. Download the latest Adobe RoboHelp version from the Adobe Systems Incorporated website to ensure you have the correct one installed. Your RoboHelp Cache Project Database file was probably created by a newer release of Adobe RoboHelp than what's currently installed your computer.

Tip: Right-clicking on your CPD, then clicking "Properties" (Windows) or "Get Info" (Mac), can provide clues about your file version.
